Actor cum host Arjun Bijlani shares his experiences of handling kids on the set of ‘Kitchen Champion.’

Tell us something about handling the kids as judges on the show.
It was a fun experience altogether, but the kids are very naughty I am telling you! They used to drive me crazy on the sets by running everywhere. I used to run behind them to make them sit in one place and complete the shoot. Even I am a father to a cute kid, so I understand how it goes. I know how to handle kids. So yeah, the sets used to be all filled with fun, laughter, and games with kids around.

Tell us something about the off-screen fun that takes place on the sets with the kids.
There is this kid Garvit. He is the naughtiest of them all and he has answers to every question of yours! He is the one who keeps running the most and then every single person on the set is chasing him to ensure that he doesn’t hurt himself while playing. The other kids are cute too. There is this girl Pari and she does complete justice to her name because she is cute and an angel too.

Tell us something about the show.
Kitchen Champion is a cook-off between celebrities and the winner earns the title of ‘Kitchen Champion. The twist in the show is that the kids are the judges. They will judge the dishes prepared by the celebs and give their unbiased opinions after tasting the dish. And kids as we know don’t get impressed in one go! So that’s going to be a challenging part for the celebs to ensure that they cook dishes that can win kids’ hearts. The one who wins would be awarded the title ‘Kitchen Champion.

Do you cook at your place? Do we get to see Arjun taking up cooking on the show as well?
The audience might get to see Arjun in the kitchen of Kitchen Champion! Somewhere the audience will get a glimpse of chef Arjun. Also, during my struggling days, I used to cook all by myself. Let me make it a point here that when I say cooking, I don’t mean just preparing a bowl full of Maggie! By cooking, I mean a proper meal and I can even knead the dough. So, I am hands-on when it comes to cooking!

You have experience working with kids on set. How do you handle your son’s mischief?
Honestly, when my wife and I are together with him he is the naughtiest. Times when he is alone with his mom, he is the calmest child ever but the moment I enter the house he is back in his element, and he knows dad gives him the freedom to be naughty and play around.

Do you like acting or hosting?
Anyday acting. I have always been an actor, but I do host for fun. In Kitchen Champion, the audience will get to know more about Arjun Bijlani. Live interactions with the audience are also something I love. When you are into a character then you have your limitations but when you are out as a host you can have fun and just be yourself.

What your routine looks like?

The only word that fits the best is- hectic. When I tell my friends about my schedule they are always taken by surprise because it’s crazy and hectic. I wake up early, then I reach the gym, work out, come back, shower, reach the sets by 9 am, shoot the entire day, then come back by 10-10.30 pm, do a little bit of my work and then off to bed by 11.30 pm.

Favorite hangout place?
Any coffee house generally but my friends generally keep complaining that I don’t go out anywhere, I don’t make any plans so I keep disappointing them a lot when it comes to going out with them. Here’s what Rashmi Desai and Deepika Singh have to say about their experience in the show, Kitchen Champion

Kitchen Champion is a fun-filled Hindi TV show on Desi Play TV wherein your favorite celebrities don the hats of chefs and prepare cuisines to impress the judges who are a bunch of naughty kids! Rashmi Desai and Deepika Singh who are a part of this interesting cooking show ‘Kitchen Champion’ shared their fun experiences related to cooking and whether they love to cook or love to eat. Read on some interesting insights as shared by Rashmi and Deepika….

Who’s a foodie at heart?

Deepika Singh-
“Who doesn’t like eating tempting food? Everyone does, right? The same goes for me! I simply cannot resist especially at times when the food is mindblowing. I am a foodie at heart of course. That’s why I keep roaming in the kitchen on and off at my place to check in case I can have something to munch on! But at the same time, we need to ensure that we do not put on those extra kgs!”

Rashmi Desai-
“ I am not a foodie at heart but I love tasting and exploring a variety of cuisines. Also, when it comes to food, a lot of things depend upon my mood. When you eat something nice you feel happy from within so I am definitely someone who eats as per my mood. There’s never been a day so far when I have asked my mom to sit back and relax so that I can cook for her! Honestly, I don’t cook but definitely, I will explore myself in Kitchen Champion.”

Are you judged by your kid when you cook for him?
Deepika Singh

“Honestly, my kid never likes the food I cook but he is definitely a fan of the food cooked by my mother-in-law. She knows exactly the proportion of spices to be added and that’s why my kid eats the food with all his heart. So, the credit of course goes to my mother-in-law who cooks yummy food for him. I can only prepare survival food. If someone asks me to prepare Dal Makhani then it’s impossible! Having said that, It’s definitely going to be challenging for me to impress the little judges on the show!”

Your experiences of being judged by the kids on the show?
Rashmi Desai

“The thought of being judged by someone when it comes to food is scary enough to make me nervous! This reminds me of an incident where my mum asked me to prepare Thai curry, lemon rice and salad. Never in my life, I eaten Thai curry, so preparing Thai curry was a task in itself! But my mom was like- don’t worry I will tell you how to prepare. Now guess what? I had forgotten to buy the most important ingredient which is coconut milk. Luckily she gave me a paste that was ready. Now that’s the case with me and when Kitchen Champion came my way I was pretty nervous! For sure, impressing those little judges wasn’t an easy task at all.”

Watch 9 divine forms of Maa Durga in the show Mahakaali

If there is one goddess in Hindu mythology who is feared and revered at the same time, it is Kaali. She is the ultimate destroyer. She destroys limitations so that we can create. She destroys the negative, so the positive can lead to a new beginning. But her personal life will also be a part of this story. Her transformation from a mortal to the most feared of them all, Mahakaali, the Goddess Parvati, Mahadev’s wife.

Nava Durga symbolizes nine forms of adi-shakti – Goddess Durga. Specifically, Navratri signifies the removal of life’s sorrows by reawakening the energy part of the Godhead in the embodiment of the universal mother Goddess Durga. She is worshipped by the names “Shakti,” “Devi,” or “NavaDurga” (energy or power). The nine nights of Navratri are therefore extremely favorable for worshipping the nine planets and nine divinities. The nine forms of Maa Durga are Shailputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kalaratri, Mahagauri, and Siddhidhatri.

What is Navratri?

Navratri festival is dedicated to worshipping the nine forms of Goddess Durga. The word Navratri is a Sanskrit word which means nine nights also symbolising the victor of positivity over negativity. On the first day of this nine-day long festival, Goddess Shailputri is worshipped.  Maa Shailputri is the absolute form of Mother nature.

On the second day, Goddess Brahmacharini is worshipped. She is the symbol of the goddess who performs Tapa or penance. On the third day of Navratri, Goddess Chandraghanta is worshipped. She represents supreme bliss and knowledge.

Goddess Kushmanda is worshipped on the fourth day of the festival. She is considered the creator of the universe. The fifth day is dedicated to worshipping Goddess Skandmata. She is the deity of the solar system and the mother of Lord Kartikeya.

The sixth day marks the worshipping of Goddess Katyayani. The goddess was created out of the spontaneous anger of gods, which eventually led to the slaying of Mahishasura. On the seventh day of Navratri Goddess Kalratri is worshipped. Kalratri is the most ferocious form of Goddess Durga. She symbolises the violent aspects of nature creating havoc, but she also purges the world out of impurities.

Mahagauri is worshipped on the eighth day of Navratri. She symbolises purity and tranquillity. The goddess also puts an end to all the sufferings of her devotees. On the last day of Navratri, which is the ninth day, Goddess Siddhidatri is worshipped. Hence, Navratri festival is dedicated to worshipping the nine forms of Goddess Durga.

To watch all the episodes of Mahakaali, tune in now to Desi Play TV. Watch these nine forms of Goddess Durga beautifully essayed on screen by the very beautiful Pooja Sharma.

How did Pooja Sharma feel about her role in Mahakaali?

Pooja Sharma, who is well known for her performance as Draupadi in the legendary TV series Mahabharat, can be seen breaking the image as she plays the lead in Desi Play TVsMahakaali – Anth Hi Aarambh Hai’.

“Being cast as Kaali was surprising for me and it was also hard for the producer to convince me because I was a little hesitant to play the role of a goddess. I realised the character is that of Goddess Parvati, who kept denying the power within her which was of Mahakaali. The script kind of resonated with the feeling inside me. I thought that this may be a divine connection. I would have regretted declining the offer later.” Shared Pooja about her role.

Talking about how she was chosen as the lead for Mahakaali, Pooja said, “I like playing challenging roles, be it a saas-bahu saga, a mythological show, a comedy, or even a crime-thriller. I’d say that I was destined for this author-backed Parvati and Mahakaali role in the show.”

Pooja can be seen doing full justice to the role offered. The innocence and charm of Parvati combined with the power and fierceness of Shakti are portrayed by her with perfection on screen. “Playing Mahakaali was a lifetime experience. I was away from TV for quite some time but a powerful role like Mahakaali was the major motivation for me to get back to TV and take up this role. I wasn’t very convinced with the kind of roles which were offered to me before Mahakaali. So, I am happy to play the lead.” shared Pooja.

The actress also shared how she was amazed to see Kaali’s side of the story being projected for the first time. “This is the first ever show when Kaali is being projected in a full-fledged show. As an actor, it was fascinating for me to play both Kaali and Parvati. It was also interesting to know about VFX and action sequences. I am happy that I got a chance to be associated with this show.”

Sharing more about her action sequences. Pooja further said,” I am glad that the action director helped me a lot to ace those action sequences. With his help of course those scenes now look smooth on the screen. I gave my heart and soul to get it right and live up to the expectations of the team.”
